Description
This federally aided highway construction project involves full-depth reconstruction of approximately 5.74 miles of U.S. Route 1 in Madawaska and Frenchville. The work includes roadway excavation and embankment, hot mix asphalt pavement, drainage improvements, replacement of 10 cross culverts, riprap and streambed features, guardrail, erosion control, temporary traffic signals, staged traffic control, utility coordination, railroad protection, and related incidental work. The contractor must furnish supervision, labor, equipment, tools, supplies, permanent and temporary materials, quality control, testing, documentation, and warranties. The project includes environmental and water-resource requirements, including cofferdams and in-stream work, special fill and void-filled riprap, dredged-material management, erosion and water-pollution controls, and compliance with federal Buy America requirements. The contract requires a 5% bid guaranty and performance and payment bonds each equal to 100% of the contract amount. The contractor must self-perform at least 30% of the original contract price, excluding specialty items, and must submit a DBE Proposed Utilization form and Bidder's List form with the bid.
