Cancer Etiology and Early Detection Research Using PLCO Biospecimens

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) supports research aimed at advancing the understanding of cancer etiology and identifying early detection biomarkers. Applicants are encouraged to utilize the unique biorepository resources of the NCI-sponsored Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian Cancer (PLCO) Screening Trial. These resources include high-quality, prospectively collected blood samples and buccal cells, along with associated demographic, diet, lifestyle, smoking, screening, and clinical data. The research should leverage the specific characteristics of the PLCO biospecimens for a wide range of cancer research, including biochemical and genetic analyses of cancer risk, as well as the discovery and validation of early detection biomarkers. Projects must involve the use of PLCO biospecimens to be considered.
