Description
The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Rocket Lab ARA is a two-step open Advanced Research Announcement (ARA) that solicits white papers and research and development contracts for novel concepts and technologies. This includes maturing specific technologies to appropriate technology readiness levels (TRL) depending on end use. The government anticipates awarding multiple contracts of varying duration and value, with a maximum single award value of $500M. This ARA allows consideration of white papers as well as calls issued by the Government when specific requirements are identified. Research topics include ground and flight experiments, missile system technologies, space system technologies, and novel approaches to mission and digital engineering. The government is interested in test processes, test equipment/systems, studies & analytical methods, and physical and digital tools used to plan, prepare, configure, verify & validate, rocket test facility and supporting functions. It also includes physics-based modeling and simulation capabilities, novel materials, emerging thermodynamic cycles and combustion concepts, new propellants and propellant processing capabilities, integration and co-design/optimization of payloads, guidance, and propulsion systems, and novel manufacturing techniques and automation of manufacturing processes.
