The Department of Defense, through the Defense Health Agency Contracting Activity, is soliciting applications for the Fiscal Year 2026 Spinal Cord Injury Research Program (SCIRP) Translational Research Award (TRA). This grant program aims to support translational research that will accelerate the development and adoption of promising ideas in spinal cord injury (SCI) research into clinical applications. The program encourages innovative research across the continuum of care, with a focus on advancing treatments and management of SCI. Key features of this funding opportunity include an Early-Career Partnership Option, allowing for two principal investigators (PIs) where at least one must be an early-career investigator. Additionally, all applications must include at least one SCI community partner to provide advice and consultation throughout the research project. The maximum period of performance for awards is three years, with an estimated total program funding of $8.32 million to fund approximately four awards. Applicants are encouraged to consider research priority areas such as Acute Injury Intervention, Secondary Health Effects, Psychosocial Well-Being, and Rehabilitation and Regeneration.
