The National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) is seeking applications for the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) - Education and Workforce Development (EWD) program. This initiative aims to develop the next generation of research, education, and extension professionals in the food and agricultural sciences. Funding is available for several areas, including professional development for K-14 educational professionals, non-formal education for youth, workforce training at community colleges, training for undergraduate students in research and extension, predoctoral fellowships, postdoctoral scholar fellowships, and education and workforce development workshop grants. Eligibility varies by project type, but generally includes state agricultural experiment stations, colleges and universities, research institutions, federal agencies, national laboratories, private organizations, corporations, and individuals who are U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents. Integrated projects have specific eligibility requirements for colleges, universities, 1994 Land-Grant Institutions, and Hispanic-serving agricultural colleges and universities. The total estimated program funding is $39,700,000, with award ceilings of $650,000 and award floors of $10,000.
