Description
The Department of Defense, through the Defense Health Agency Contracting Activity, is soliciting grant applications for the Fiscal Year 2026 Spinal Cord Injury Research Program (SCIRP) Clinical Translation Research Award (CTRA). This program aims to support high-impact, new, or emerging clinical research that requires preliminary studies, such as feasibility, pilot, or optimization, to prepare for future larger-scale clinical trials or implementation. The primary objectives are to accelerate the translation of techniques and interventions into clinical use by addressing barriers to success and to identify effective diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation options to inform decision-making for patients and clinicians. Key features of this award include an Early-Career Partnership Option, allowing for two principal investigators (PIs) where at least one must be an early-career investigator. Additionally, all applications must name at least two spinal cord injury (SCI) community partners to provide advice and consultation. The estimated total program funding is $6.12 million, with approximately 3 awards expected, each with a cost cap of $2.0 million for a single PI or $2.16 million for the Early-Career Partnership Option. The maximum period of performance for an award is 3 years.
