The Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) requires that all new school buildings procure the services of an independent commissioning agent. This solicitation is for qualified Educational Commissioning vendors for school construction projects. The role of the Educational Commissioning agent is to bring the owner's needs and project requirements to the forefront at each phase of the project to ensure that the finished project will meet expectations, improve the building and site's educational performance by optimizing pedagogically-effective design features, and verify that building staff and faculty members are well-trained and possess the support they need to utilize both the indoor and outdoor spaces to their fullest potential and intended purpose. The agent will also submit project reports to the RI School Building Authority (SBA) at each stage of the project: Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), 60% Construction Documents (CD), 100% CD and post-occupancy.
