The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) is announcing a program to provide Small Grant (R03) support to recipients of NIDDK-supported K01, K08, K23, and K25 awards. This initiative aims to enhance the research capabilities of these award recipients during the latter years of their K award, supporting their transition to fully independent investigator status. The R03 grant mechanism is designed to support various types of research projects, including pilot and feasibility studies, secondary analysis of existing data, small, self-contained research projects, development of research methodology, and development of new research technology. The goal is to fund research projects that can be completed within a short timeframe and with limited resources, potentially providing preliminary data for subsequent R01 or equivalent applications. Eligibility extends to various institutions and organizations, including Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions, Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISISs), Eligible Agencies of the Federal Government, Faith-based or Community-based Organizations, Hispanic-serving Institutions, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Indian/Native American Tribal Governments (Other than Federally Recognized), Regional Organizations, Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities (TCCUs), and U.S. Territories or Possessions. Non-domestic (non-U.S.) Entities (Foreign Organizations) are not eligible to apply. Foreign components, as defined in the NIH Grants Policy Statement, are permitted. The award ceiling for this grant is $75,000.
