The National Science Foundation is soliciting proposals for large-scale, interdisciplinary Quantum Leap Challenge Institutes addressing major challenges in quantum information science and technology. Proposed institutes may focus on quantum computation, communication, simulation, sensing, or related areas, and may establish new institutes or continue existing ones. Institutes are expected to coordinate research across multiple institutions and disciplines while supporting education, training, workforce development, partnerships, infrastructure, industry engagement, outreach, international collaboration, and new applications for quantum technologies. Eligible applicants are accredited two- and four-year U.S. institutions of higher education, including community colleges, acting on behalf of their faculty members. The program anticipates 10 awards, with total estimated funding of $300,000,000 and individual awards ranging from $10,000,000 to $45,000,000.
