Description
Charleston County seeks a contractor for roadway and pedestrian improvements along Riverland Drive and Central Park Road. The work includes approximately 4,000 feet of new concrete and asphalt sidewalk, a northbound right-turn lane, driveway and pavement work, drainage improvements, utility coordination and relocation, tree protection and removal, crosswalk markings, pedestrian ramps, and installation of rectangular rapid-flashing beacons and other traffic-safety features. The bid schedule also includes water-system work, including a water-main offset, valve-box adjustments, meter-box relocation and service-line adjustments, and record drawings and valve cards. The contractor must meet a mandatory 12.2% Small Business Enterprise subcontracting goal for the roadway portion of the bid and provide one on-the-job training position for 520 hours. The project is to reach substantial completion within 300 calendar days after the Notice to Proceed, with final completion within 60 calendar days thereafter. The solicitation requires a 5% bid bond and payment and performance bonds each equal to 100% of the contract amount. The bid form notes that quantities are estimates and payment is based on unit prices.
