Description
The Defense Health Agency is soliciting applications for the Bone Marrow Failure Research Program's Investigator-Initiated Research Award (IIRA). This program aims to support studies that further develop mature ideas, expand upon key discoveries, and have the potential to make significant advances in bone marrow failure research and/or patient care. Applications may involve translational and clinical research, including studies in preclinical models, research with human data and/or anatomical substances, and research with human subjects. However, this award mechanism does not support clinical trials. It also supports Investigational New Drug (IND)-enabling efforts such as lead compound characterization and assessments of formulation, stability, absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, dose/response, and toxicology. The program expects to fund approximately one award with a total cost cap of $1.25 million per award, with a maximum period of performance of 3 years. Applications require preliminary data relevant to the proposed project. The IIRA encourages multidisciplinary collaborations and offers a partnering Principal Investigator (PI) option, where both PIs will submit full applications for their distinct portions of the research project.
