Los Alamos National Laboratory is offering exclusive and non-exclusive commercial licensing agreements for SonicCoat, a technology that uses Acoustic Resonance Spectroscopy and ultrasonic transducers to evaluate catalyst coatings non-destructively during production. The technology measures resonance changes as catalyst layers are deposited, providing real-time information about coating thickness, loading, and uniformity without stopping the production line, removing samples, damaging parts, or using X-ray-based inspection. The technology is applicable to catalyst-coated gas diffusion layers used in fuel cells and electrolyzers, as well as potential applications in battery manufacturing, solar energy, semiconductor fabrication, and protective coatings. It is at Technology Readiness Level 4, and the notice identifies a U.S. patent pending under LA-UR-26-28073. This is a technology licensing opportunity, not a request for external development services.
