The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) is requesting quotes for the coordination of a study tour to Rome and Southern Italy for the Ancient Studies Department in March 2027. The tour will accommodate groups of 25, 30, or 35 persons, including two to three instructors who will pay full fare. Services required include round-trip air transportation from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) to Rome Fiumicino (FCO) on a regularly scheduled airline, with departures on March 12, 2027 and return on March 21, 2027. The itinerary includes visits to archaeological sites and museums such as the Roman Forum, Colosseum, Ostia Antica, Hadrian's Villa, Domus Aurea, Capitoline Museum, Trajan's Column, Ara Pacis, Pantheon, Stadium of Domitian, Sperlonga, Paestum, Pompeii, Herculaneum, National Archaeological Museum of Naples, and Cumae. The tour requires private motor coach service in Italy for transfers and site visits, eight nights of three- or four-star centrally located hotel accommodations (five nights in Rome, three nights in Castellammare di Stabia), two pre-paid group dinners, and two pre-paid group lunches. All entrance fees, airport taxes, hotel taxes, service charges, porterage, and gratuities for group meals must be included. A contingency fee for a tour escort is required if the University withdraws sponsorship. Quotes must be submitted via email to a Box address by July 1, 2026.
