The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes a rehabilitation project along various state routes in Sacramento and Placer counties to modernize existing ramp-metering and Traffic Management System (TMS) elements. The work includes conduit trenching, cleaning, and replacement of existing electrical conductors; installation of new Cast-in-Drilled-Hole (CIDH) pile foundations and poles equipped with Microwave Radar Systems (MRS), Flashing Beacons, and/or Microwave Vehicle Detection Systems (MVDS); installation of new guardrail at light pole locations where needed; and replacement of existing electrical detection loops. The project covers seven specific locations, including freeway ramp meters and traffic monitoring detection stations. Construction is anticipated to begin on May 7, 2027, and last approximately 50 working days.
