Description
The City of Encinitas is soliciting a contractor for improvements at Wiro Park and Orpheus Park. The base work includes removal of existing playground equipment and surfacing, installation of new playground equipment, drainage improvements, and new protective surfacing. Wiro Park requires poured-in-place rubber surfacing; Orpheus Park requires engineered wood fiber surfacing, new drain inlets, and an ADA-compliant concrete ramp. Two additive alternates are included for Orpheus Park: replacement of a picnic shade shelter and construction of an adult fitness area with fitness equipment, rubberized surfacing, landscaping, irrigation restoration, and plant establishment. The work requires a Class A California contractor's license, manufacturer-certified playground installation, NPSI-certified inspection and ASTM-compliant testing, prevailing-wage compliance, a minimum 50 percent own-forces requirement, a 10 percent bid bond, and 100 percent payment and performance bonds after award. The base contract includes 70 working days for equipment procurement and 80 working days for construction; awarded additive alternates add five working days each.
