The Alberta Surgical Initiative project involves renovating and developing hospital infrastructure, including 11 operating rooms—two interventional, two isolation, one airborne isolation, and six general rooms—along with 17 post-anesthetic care spaces and five pre-operative patient spaces. The work also includes a basement medical vacuum tie-in, clinical engineering renovations, and development of interstitial mechanical and electrical service space. The contractor must provide upgrades and integration of clinical, mechanical, and electrical systems throughout the facility, including 11 dedicated air-handling units, a new air-handling unit, system tie-ins, required shutdowns, testing, balancing, commissioning, and turnover activities. The estimated contract period is 27 months, with a proposed start date of February 12, 2027.
