Description
Montgomery County is seeking a qualified for-profit or nonprofit operator for the approximately 45,000-square-foot Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center. The operator will manage day-to-day venue operations, staffing, ticketing, booking, technical direction and production, custodial services, food and beverage operations, safety, security, customer service, marketing, audience development, financial management, fundraising, and facility rentals. The operator will also manage partnerships and tenants, provide arts and cultural programming, and develop an arts and culture incubator offering professional development, workshops, business resources, and opportunities for local artists and organizations. The facility will include a flexible theatre, studio space, visual art gallery, flexible classroom, visual art classroom, administrative space, and performer support areas. Proposals must address facility management, community access and equitable booking, staffing, financial sustainability, related venue-operation experience, programming, audience development, and operational risk management. The selected operator will provide input during tenant-improvement design and construction, then operate the Center under an initial eight-year contract consisting of a three-year predevelopment/development term and a five-year operations term, with up to three five-year renewals.
