Description
San Marcos Unified School District is soliciting proposals from one or more qualified, licensed, privately owned transportation carriers to provide supplemental extracurricular student transportation on an as-needed basis. The scope includes local and extracurricular travel and annual out-of-state travel using school buses, charter buses, coach buses, and qualifying passenger vehicles. Contractors must provide vehicles, qualified drivers, fuel, toll management, maintenance, and administrative support, and must comply with applicable federal, California, district, California Highway Patrol, Department of Education, Department of Motor Vehicles, Public Utilities Commission, and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requirements. Bidders must own or lease the equipment they provide, use their own employees as drivers, and may not subcontract any portion of the work. Vehicles and drivers must meet applicable SPAB/PAB certification and licensing requirements, and bidders must provide equipment and driver information, carrier-rating documentation, and required certifications. Pricing is requested by vehicle capacity, trip duration, and destination county. The initial term is January 1, 2027, through December 31, 2027, with four annual renewal options through December 31, 2031. Proposals are evaluated on pricing, references, and carrier location.
