The 5th Contracting Squadron intends to purchase custom-made covers for B-52H engine pods. Each cover must fully enclose an engine pod and be made of heavy-duty vinyl that remains pliable at -40°F, resists aviation lubricants, and does not chafe the aircraft. Required features include red “REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT” streamers, compatible ground-heater duct connections, sealed engine-inlet inspection access, two closure methods, and drainage for trapped fluids. The cover must fold for storage in the aircraft’s aft compartment; a soft inner lining is not included. This is a notice of intent to make a single-source award to Transhield, Inc., not a request for competitive quotes. Interested parties may submit written capability documentation demonstrating that they can meet the attached salient characteristics; the Government will use responses to decide whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The determination states that 96 Transhield covers were previously procured and that Transhield is considered the sole source meeting the specialized requirements.
