Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), specifically the National Eye Institute (NEI) Visual Function Core, intends to award a sole source, firm-fixed-price purchase order to Opticent Health for maintenance of their vis-OCT system. The vis-OCT system uses visible light for optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging, providing high-resolution imaging of live, intact eyes to expand understanding of visual function in normal and diseased conditions. Opticent Health will provide "Gold Service," which includes parts and labor for resolving malfunctions, either via telephone or on-site visits by a technical representative. As Opticent Health is the manufacturer of the instrument and does not permit third-party upgrades, they are considered the only known responsible source capable of meeting the NIH's standards for this specialized equipment.
