Description
This opportunity supports mathematical research focused on the central and essential role of computation, emphasizing the analysis, development, and implementation of theoretically justified and efficient algorithms. Proposals that combine these elements to create innovative computational methods and implement them for modeling, studying, and solving important application problems are encouraged. The program also aims to provide opportunities for rigorous mathematical training of junior computational mathematicians through research involvement. Proposals for conferences or workshops must be submitted through the 'Conferences and Workshops in the Mathematical Sciences' solicitation. Key submission deadlines for conferences include: - Proposals for conferences/workshops held in the US must be submitted at least 6 months in advance. - Proposals for group travel to meetings outside the US must be submitted at least 8 months in advance. - Proposals with a budget request exceeding $50,000 must be submitted during the annual Computational Mathematics Program submission window (December 1-15). Failure to adhere to these deadlines may result in proposals being returned without review. The estimated total program funding is $18,000,000, with award amounts ranging from $1 to $1,200,000.
