Description
The Directorate for Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences (SBE) at the U.S. National Science Foundation is seeking applications for Postdoctoral Research Fellowships. These fellowships aim to foster independence in the early stages of a fellow's career by supporting their research and training goals. The research and training plans must address significant scientific questions within the scope of the SBE directorate. The program offers two tracks: Fundamental Research in the SBE Sciences (SPRF-FR) and Broadening Participation in the SBE Sciences (SPRF-BP). Proposals are submitted directly by the individual postdoctoral fellow, not the host institution, and the award is made directly to the fellow. The fellowship can be held at Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) or nonprofit, non-academic organizations in the U.S. associated with educational or research activities. Eligibility requires candidates to be U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents who have obtained or will obtain a doctoral degree in the SBE sciences within a specified timeframe. Candidates must not hold a full-time tenure-track faculty appointment and cannot submit the same research to another NSF program. It is anticipated that research will be conducted at an institution different from the proposer's doctoral-granting or current postdoctoral fellowship institution, though justification is required if remaining at the current institution.
