Description
The United Nations Development Programme is soliciting proposals from national civil-society organizations, community-based organizations, eligible research institutions, and favored consortiums for small environmental grants under the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme, Operational Phase 8. Proposed projects should deliver innovative, inclusive, community-led environmental and socioeconomic benefits, including biodiversity and ecosystem conservation, sustainable agriculture and fisheries, climate-change mitigation, land restoration, renewable energy, pollution and solid-waste reduction, sustainable urban solutions, and organizational capacity building. Projects should address community resilience, local participation, gender and social inclusion, sustainability, knowledge sharing, and measurable environmental results. The requested grant may not exceed $75,000 per project, must be matched by cash and in-kind co-financing at least equal to the requested allocation, and must have an implementation period of 12 to 24 months. Priority landscapes include El Atf, the Oualo–Dieri transition zone, the Mauritanian portion of the Senegal River Delta transboundary biosphere reserve, and the Mare de Bougari rupicolous biodiversity refuge; innovative projects outside those landscapes may also be considered. Required proposal materials include the prescribed project proposal, site photographs and geographic coordinates, two on-site references, legal-recognition documents, a bank-account document, and a partnership protocol when applicable.
