Description
The United Nations Development Programme, implementing the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme in Mauritania, is inviting national civil-society organizations and community-based organizations to propose innovative, inclusive environmental projects. Eligible initiatives may address community conservation of ecosystems and threatened species, sustainable agriculture and fisheries, sustainable urban solutions, climate-change mitigation, land degradation, biodiversity, chemicals and waste, international waters, or organizational capacity building. Projects should demonstrate community participation, sustainability, inclusion of women, Indigenous Peoples, youth, or persons with disabilities where applicable, and measurable environmental and socioeconomic benefits. Requested grants may not exceed $75,000 per project, must generally run for 12 to 24 months, and require cash and in-kind co-financing at least equal to the requested grant. Applicants must submit the completed project proposal template, site photograph and geographic coordinates, two on-site references, legal-recognition documents, a bank-account document, and any applicable partnership or consortium protocol. The package must also include the required proposal form and supporting information on eligibility, methodology, implementation planning, management structure, and key personnel.
