Description
The United Nations Development Programme is seeking an individual consultant to provide technical support for the characterization of irrigation and efficient and circular water-use projects in productive sectors. The work will support identification, evaluation, and monitoring of projects involving efficient pumping and irrigation, electrification of water-related uses, reduced extraction of new water, potable-water substitution, reuse of internal flows and treated effluents, and water-related resource recovery. Treatment intended solely for discharge compliance is excluded unless it enables reuse, substitution of new water, or by-product recovery. The consultant will map relevant productive sectors, policies, targets, regulations, permits, and financing instruments; develop baseline conditions and project-type profiles; analyze technical specifications, capital costs, business models, profitability, market potential, impacts, adoption drivers, barriers, and technical, water, regulatory, and financial risks; and recommend mitigation measures. Three digital deliverables are required: a sector, regulatory, and context-mapping report with methodology; project-type identification sheets; and a drivers, barriers, and risks report accompanied by a presentation and publishable executive summary. The assignment is for 20 working days over a maximum two-month period, with an estimated start in October 2026.
