Population Approaches to Reducing Alcohol-Related Cancer Risk

This funding opportunity seeks to support interdisciplinary research focused on population-level strategies to mitigate alcohol-related cancer risks. The initiative encourages studies that aim to increase public awareness of the link between alcohol consumption and cancer, modify social norms surrounding alcohol use, develop and evaluate alcohol policy interventions, and test or implement population-wide interventions to decrease alcohol-related cancer incidence. Applications addressing various levels of alcohol consumption, from moderate to heavy drinking, and those examining alcohol use disorder from a cancer prevention and control standpoint, are particularly encouraged. Various organizations are eligible to apply, including Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institutions, Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISISs), eligible agencies of the Federal Government, faith-based or community-based organizations, Hispanic-serving Institutions, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Indian/Native American Tribal Governments (other than Federally Recognized), non-domestic entities, regional organizations, Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities (TCCUs), and U.S. territories or possessions. Eligible applicant types also encompass a broad range of entities such as special district governments, public and Indian housing authorities, state governments, various nonprofit organizations, for-profit organizations (other than small businesses), independent school districts, county governments, private institutions of higher education, federally recognized Native American tribal governments, and small businesses.
