Description
South Coast Air Quality Management District is soliciting applications for its Clean Heavy Duty Vehicle Incentive Program, which provides rebates for replacing eligible diesel- or gasoline-powered Class 6 and 7 goods-movement freight vehicles, including qualifying transport refrigeration unit trucks, with brand-new battery-electric vehicles. Applicants may also request funding for one new charging unit per replacement vehicle. Replacement vehicles must not be retrofits, repowers, or conversions, and eligible projects are subject to operational, mileage, registration, fleet-compliance, and jurisdictional requirements. The program has approximately $29 million available. Maximum vehicle rebates range from $160,000 for a Class 6 or 7 step van to $355,000 for a Class 6 or 7 TRU truck; funding is capped at the applicable maximum or 65% of project cost, whichever is lower. Applications must include project cost information and vendor quotes dated within 90 days of submission, along with the required fleet, vehicle, registration, insurance, compliance, business, tax, and certification documentation. Selected applicants must operate replacement vehicles for at least five years and comply with applicable federal requirements for funded charging installations, including Build America, Buy America and Davis-Bacon requirements.
