The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), part of the Department of Health and Human Services, is soliciting applications for a National Center for Construction Safety and Health Research and Translation. This center will focus on impactful applied and intervention research, hazard identification, and the development of partnerships to implement prevention activities. The goal is to advance research translation and research-to-practice for the protection of construction workers across the United States. The center will integrate and advance research, research translation, best practices, policy, and capacity building, aligning with the NIOSH strategic plan and NORA construction research objectives. Applicants are encouraged to propose multidisciplinary approaches that leverage diverse scientific resources to address national worker safety and health issues. The center is expected to create and implement evidence-based solutions for critical construction industry safety and health problems, fostering collaborations with other academic institutions, non-profit organizations, and occupational safety and health-focused groups. The proposed work should clearly articulate the occupational health burden in the construction industry and demonstrate how focused research and outreach will alleviate this burden and reduce negative outcomes.
