Description
This Request for Comments seeks vendor feedback on draft plans for developing and operating up to three commercial safety rest areas along the Highway 2 corridor between Calgary and Edmonton. The proposed sites are Dickson-Stevenson Stopping House, Wolf Creek Safety Rest Area, and a proposed site near Millet. The Province is seeking input on what support would make the sites financially viable; it states that rent will not be charged. The future procurement is expected to seek vendors to develop, operate, and maintain the sites under lease agreements. Vendors would be responsible for expanding, constructing, and servicing the sites, and for providing all-season washrooms, safe parking, and commercial amenities such as fuel, convenience retail, quick-service food, or vending. This notice is a request for comments to inform a subsequent negotiated request for proposals, not the solicitation for those future contracts.
