Description
The National Park Service (NPS) is offering grants through the Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership (ORLP) Program to acquire land and water for parks and other outdoor recreation purposes, or to develop and renovate existing outdoor recreation facilities in qualifying areas. Qualifying areas include urban areas with a population of 25,000 or more, or areas administered by federally recognized Indian Tribes or Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian community organizations. ORLP grants require a 50% match from non-federal sources, though certain insular areas may receive 100% federal funding. Projects must be maintained and accessible for public outdoor recreation use in perpetuity and align with the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Act and relevant national priorities. Eligible applicants include State and Territorial Lead Agencies, federally recognized Indian Tribes, and Alaska Native communities or organizations. Political subdivisions of states, Native Hawaiian communities, and Urban Indian organizations are eligible as subrecipients. Funding ranges from $300,000 to $15,000,000 per award. Applications are accepted annually on November 1st, with selections announced approximately four months later. Recipients have one year from selection to finalize a grant agreement.
