This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) aims to support action-oriented research to combat the opioid crisis and overdose events. The initiative focuses on accelerating the translation of addiction epidemiology, prevention, treatment services, and recovery research into practice. Proposed studies can target individual, provider, organizational, community, or system levels, with a priority on replicable and scalable approaches. Research relevant to chronic pain comorbid with substance use is also encouraged. Eligible research may employ various methods, including identifying malleable factors, developing and testing interventions and implementation strategies, utilizing collaborative data science, and integrating researcher and decision-maker collaborations at clinical, health system, public health, or policy levels. Eligibility is restricted to domestic entities. Foreign organizations and non-U.S. components of U.S. organizations are not eligible to apply. Foreign components are allowed.
