Description
The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane) is issuing a Commercial Solutions Opening (CSO) to rapidly select innovative commercial solutions for defense applications. This CSO, authorized by 10 U.S.C. 3458, focuses on three key areas: Expeditionary Warfare, Strategic Missions, and Electromagnetic Warfare. The process involves a three-phased approach: Solution Brief, Pitch, and Full Written Proposal. Awards may be made as FAR-based contracts, Purchase Orders, Other Transaction Agreements (OTAs), or Bailment Agreements, with a preference for fixed-price awards for commercial products and services. The CSO encourages participation from both traditional and non-traditional defense contractors. Several Areas of Interest (AOIs) have been posted under this CSO, including: * **N0016425SCA001 Miniature Aiming System (MAS) Machine Gun Optic (MGO):** Seeking a miniature aiming system for the .338 Norma Magnum Light Machine Gun Medium (LMG M) to engage targets up to 2000 meters, with specific requirements for recoil management, durability, magnification, and reticle design. * **N0016425SCA002 Small Modular Optic and Laser Designator (SMOLDr):** Seeking a low-cost, small, lightweight, and modular laser designator and separable digital optic to improve upon current solutions that are costly, large, and lack low-light imaging performance. * **Lightweight Machine Gun - Assault:** Seeking a lightweight, man-portable, select-fire, belt-fed weapon chambered in 7.62 NATO to replace the MK48 series, integrating advancements in materials and manufacturing for superior performance, interoperability with existing systems, and the ability to accept high-pressure ammunition.
