Description
The University of Maine System is soliciting proposals from manufacturers of the primary pellet source to provide fixed-price wood pellet fuel for the University of Maine at Fort Kent. Estimated annual consumption is approximately 1,400 tons for combined university and community heating needs, or approximately 800 tons for the university alone. Deliveries will be made to silos at the Armory Building and Sports Center, with delivery required within 24 hours of request and during specified operating hours. Pellets must meet detailed specifications for dimensions, heating value, density, moisture, ash, fines, durability, consistency, and contamination. Each delivery must include a quality certificate, and the contractor must provide quarterly third-party composition testing, sustainable forestry certification for all pellet sources, and a secondary or backup source. The response must include pricing, organizational and experience information, references, the required certifications, and identification of any primary-source or transportation subcontractors. The initial term is two years, with three additional one-year renewal options.
