Description
The United Nations Development Programme is seeking an individual national consultant to support two coordinated studies in Malawi: “Mapping Mineral Supply Chains for Human Need” and “Malawi Mineral Value Chain Analysis.” The 100-working-day assignment covers community and site-level engagement, stakeholder consultations, field data collection, interviews, focus groups, supply-chain mapping, and field-based analysis across seven value chains, including gold, gemstones, fertilizer, and cement. The consultant will work with artisanal and small-scale mining communities, associations, traders, processors, manufacturers, distributors, buyers, government stakeholders, and affected communities, with attention to gender and youth dimensions, market access, formalization, domestic value addition, import substitution, and value retention. The assignment is divided into five deliverables: stakeholder and site mapping; Field Phase 1 scoping and training; Field Phase 2 engagement and data collection; contribution to the draft Study 2 report; and contribution to the final Study 2 report. Proposals must include a technical proposal, a completed and signed Offeror’s Letter to UNDP confirming interest and availability, a personal CV with at least three references, a financial proposal with a detailed cost breakdown, and an academic qualification certificate. Submission is through the UNDP Quantum supplier portal.
