Description
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing is conducting market research on alternative currency and security paper substrates that could supplement or replace traditional cotton-linen currency paper. Respondents may propose natural fibers, engineered materials, regenerated cellulose, nanocellulose, synthetic polymers, hybrid fiber/polymer substrates, or other advanced materials suitable for secure document production. Responses should address material composition and manufacturing, performance characteristics, security-feature and printing compatibility, sustainability, manufacturing capacity and scalability, supply-chain maturity, estimated production costs, intellectual property, and commercial availability. Respondents may include laboratory results, pilot-production data, certifications, third-party evaluations, standards compliance, durability studies, field-performance data, and demonstrated secure-document or banknote applications. Responses are limited to 50 pages and must be submitted electronically in PDF format; this is an RFI for market research and does not constitute a commitment to procure.
