Description
The United Nations Development Programme is seeking an individual consultant for the Sustainable and Inclusive Development of West Suriname project. The assignment is home-based with travel to West Suriname and requires 30 working days within 12 months, with a possible extension. The consultant will provide technical assistance to Indigenous and Tribal Peoples and local communities on sustainable production systems, non-timber forest products, community forestry, agroforestry, low-impact agriculture, ecotourism, wildlife-based value chains, and nature-positive livelihoods. Responsibilities include assessing production practices, developing community management and livelihood plans, conducting productivity and value-chain analyses, designing capacity-development and training programs, facilitating stakeholder partnerships, developing traceability systems, supporting nursery and seed-bank design, and reviewing project deliverables. Applicants must have at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, five years of relevant experience, demonstrated experience with Indigenous and Tribal Peoples and participatory planning, and full proficiency in Dutch and English with verbal Sranan proficiency. Required submissions include a signed offer letter and financial breakdown, CV and diploma, a suitability statement and methodology, and a language-proficiency form.
