Description
The National Research Council of Canada is seeking two new, off-the-shelf Dual Ion Beam Sputter Deposition laser facet coating systems for its Canadian Photonics Fabrication Centre. Each system must support ion-beam-assisted deposition of dielectric and semiconductor thin films for antireflection, high-reflection, passivation, and custom multilayer laser-facet coatings. Required capabilities include load-lock vacuum isolation, primary and assist ion sources, argon/oxygen/nitrogen process-gas compatibility, substrate handling up to at least 100 mm, optical monitoring, automated coating recipes and data logging, residual-gas analysis, multiple target materials, safety interlocks, and compatibility with specified electrical, cooling, exhaust, footprint, and clean-room requirements. The requirement includes delivery, installation, factory and site acceptance testing, equipment-performance documentation, English-language documentation, and on-site training for up to five NRC personnel. The technical proposal must address mandatory and point-rated criteria, and the financial proposal must separately price two systems plus optional periodic service, extended warranty, and an upgraded target carousel. The contract period runs from award through December 15, 2028, with delivery required by December 15, 2027.
