The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is seeking proposals from property owners, community members, and commercial landlords for approximately 1,800 to 2,000 square feet of leased office space for selected departmental programs. The proposed premises must be located within the Canadian portion of Akwesasne and should accommodate approximately eight full-time employees and up to 12 occupants, with flexible office and meeting areas, reception and waiting space, secure records storage, a kitchenette or lunchroom, washrooms, high-speed internet availability, adequate parking, and accessible public access. Properties must meet applicable accessibility, life-safety, commercial occupancy, and building-code requirements, or be capable of reasonable renovation or retrofit by the owner. Landlords would be responsible for building and site maintenance, structural and building-system repairs, exterior upkeep, and maintaining insurance during the lease term. Proponents must submit property and ownership documentation, photographs, floor plans, availability and readiness information, property insurance, completed submission and pricing forms, and a statement accepting responsibility for required renovations. The proposed lease would have an initial three-year term with one optional two-year renewal, and pricing must identify the total rent and annual and monthly costs for the initial term.
