Description
The CHIPS Incentives Program, administered by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) within the Department of Commerce, is seeking applications for projects focused on the construction, expansion, or modernization of commercial facilities for semiconductor materials and manufacturing equipment. This program aims to bolster U.S. economic and national security by strengthening the domestic semiconductor industry, enhancing supply chain resilience, and advancing U.S. technology leadership. Funding is available for projects with capital investments below $300 million, with a particular focus on smaller projects to encourage participation from small and medium-sized businesses. Eligible applicants include private-sector entities, nonprofit entities, and consortia of these entities. The program emphasizes long-term commercial viability, technical feasibility, and robust workforce development strategies, encouraging collaboration through consortia to foster regional semiconductor clusters. Applications are accepted through the CHIPS Incentives Portal, with concept plans being accepted through November 1, 2026. Further details, including application requirements and program priorities, can be found on chips.gov.
