Description
The Government of the Virgin Islands, through the Department of Planning and Natural Resources and the Virgin Islands Council on the Arts, seeks a qualified professional sculptor or sculptural team for the complete design, casting, fabrication, delivery, and installation of a life-sized silicon bronze portrait bust of Dr. Alfred O. Heath. The completed work will include an engineered pedestal, granite cladding, integrated LED lighting, and a cast bronze informational plaque for permanent outdoor display in a coastal environment. The selected contractor must provide concept development, a scaled maquette, full-scale modeling, professional foundry coordination, mold preparation, casting, hot patina, protective marine-grade coating, transportation, structural-engineering coordination, pedestal and lighting oversight, and final installation. Proposers must demonstrate at least five years of professional sculptural practice, three completed bronze public art projects, foundry and permanent outdoor installation experience, and authorization to conduct business in the United States Virgin Islands or the ability to obtain it. Proposals must include a signed cover letter, resume, qualifications statement, portfolio with at least three completed bronze public art sculptures, three professional references, one conceptual rendering, an artistic-vision narrative of no more than 1,000 words, a technical narrative, project schedule, and itemized cost proposal. The contract is fixed-price for one year, with a single six-month renewal option.
