Sandia National Laboratories (SNL), as the nation's premier laboratory for promoting U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness, is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) to advance critical and emerging microelectronics technologies. This initiative aims to strengthen the domestic semiconductor manufacturing supply chain and ensure U.S. global leadership in future industries. The RFI focuses on several key areas: advanced semiconductor research and prototyping (including microelectronic/semiconductor devices, power electronics, advanced sensing and timing, and communications technologies), microelectronics fabrication and characterization capabilities (such as advanced testing, assembly, packaging, materials characterization, design automation, and accelerating domestic manufacturing fabs), the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for microelectronics research and development, the application of quantum technology for microelectronics research and development, and the commercialization of innovations within these fields. Responses are requested in PDF or Word document format with a maximum of 5 pages and will be accepted until September 30, 2029. Key evaluation criteria include relevance, completeness, clarity, understanding of technical purpose, and respondent experience.
