Description
This project involves the removal of twelve existing fish barriers along SR 112 in Clallam County, from MP 0.72 to MP 56.55. The barriers will be replaced with new structures and reconstructed stream channels to ensure unimpeded passage for fish. The scope of work includes fish exclusion and temporary stream bypass systems, maintenance of traffic, removal of existing barriers, earthwork, construction of structures and walls, roadway reconstruction, guardrail work, channel reconstruction, streambed and roadside restoration, erosion control, water management, and traffic control. A significant part of the project includes realigning SR 112 near Indian Creek at MP 29.12. The project aims to protect and restore salmon and trout runs in compliance with a federal court injunction. It will be delivered using a Design-Build method, with a two-step procurement process involving a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) followed by a Request for Proposals (RFP) for short-listed firms. The estimated contract cost is between $170 to $210 Million. Key project goals include Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) participation, minimizing public impact, environmental stewardship, and excellent project management.
