Description

This opportunity is a public notice regarding the 15-Mile Processing Hub Project, a proposed gold mining and processing operation by 15-Mile Minerals and Renewables Ltd. The project involves developing three historic open-pit gold mines located northeast of Halifax, Nova Scotia: the 15-Mile Mine, Old Austen Mine, and Old Mitchell Mine. The 15-Mile Mine will serve as the central processing hub for ore from all three sites. The project plans include mining, processing approximately 3 million tonnes of ore per year, and producing an estimated 103,000 ounces of gold annually over an 11-year mine life. The project is expected to create significant economic benefits, including job creation and tax revenue. Environmental studies have been conducted, and the project design has been updated to reduce environmental impacts based on feedback from regulators, communities, and the Mi'kmaq of Nova Scotia. Key aspects of the project include managing historic tailings, waste rock, and contaminated soil, as well as implementing water management systems and reclamation plans.
