Description
The United Nations Development Programme seeks a contractor to upgrade the Main Slipway Winch System at the Port of Aden. The work includes rehabilitation of the existing winch room; civil, architectural, electrical, mechanical, and marine works; replacement of the existing DC motor with a 220 kW marine-duty AC motor; installation and commissioning of a 250 kW heavy-duty 18-pulse VFD, phase-shifting transformer, dynamic braking chopper and external braking resistor; and integration of a PLC/HMI-based control system with sensors, alarms, emergency stops, data logging, and wireless/local controls. Additional work includes impressed-current cathodic protection for submerged slipway rails and steelwork; distribution boards, cabling, lighting, fire alarm and clean-agent fire suppression; IP surveillance; HVAC and exhaust ventilation; gearbox, winch, drum, and wire-rope maintenance; spare parts and diagnostic tools; testing, factory and site acceptance activities; training; as-built and close-out documentation; warranties; and final handover. The contract completion period is 120 calendar days, or four months, from commencement. Bidders must demonstrate relevant experience, financial capacity, qualified onsite personnel, equipment availability, and compliance with the detailed technical specifications and returnable forms. Bid Bulletin 1 clarifies that bidders may either customize an IEC 355 motor to achieve the required 428 mm shaft height or use a standard IEC 355 motor with a custom-fabricated base.
